Wi-Fi Streaming Resilience

Find where streaming actually holds up in your home.

Streaming problems are not always explained by the headline speed of an internet connection. Two places in the same home can behave differently because Wi-Fi conditions change with distance, walls, interference, contention and device placement.

OSSNEXT Sweet Spot is a browser-based streaming resilience test designed to compare locations in the same home. It uses controlled video playback together with network and playback evidence to show which tested location holds up best under changing network conditions.

The result is intentionally consumer-facing: compare locations, see how playback held up, and identify the place that gives streaming the most resilient experience.

Why test more than internet speed?

A conventional speed result can tell you how much throughput was available at one moment. Streaming experience also depends on how consistently the connection responds while video is playing. A location can have plenty of headline bandwidth and still suffer from latency variation, contention or transient Wi-Fi impairment.

Sweet Spot does not ask you to replace your speed test. It answers a different household question: where does streaming hold up best?

How to use it

  1. Use the same device and browser for each location you want to compare.
  2. Run the test from each normal viewing location.
  3. Keep the home network in its ordinary state rather than trying to create perfect lab conditions.
  4. Compare the completed results and choose the location with the strongest overall streaming resilience.
